214 people asked for directions to a bistro they had never heard of

Bistro FlânéWarsaw

How an intimate French room downtown found the guests who would pay for it, on about 200 PLN a week.

What went missing

Bistro Flâné serves cordon bleu, crème brûlée and a proper petit déjeuner in a small room downtown, among hundreds of other restaurants competing for the same evening.

The posts appeared when there was time for them, which was rarely, and French cooking at this level is not a thing you sell to everybody. The owners wanted to cook and to serve, not to run a campaign.

The retrieval

We took the whole thing over: the plan, the photography, the graphics and the campaigns, so the room could go back to being a room.

The posts show the plates rather than the interior, the weekly offers and seasonal evenings run on a rhythm, and one evergreen campaign runs continuously at about 200 PLN a week instead of in bursts.

What came back

  • 2,041Clicks on the ads over three weeks
  • 214People who asked for directions to the door

A tap on directions is the closest thing an ad platform has to a guest walking in, and 353 more opened the menu. Running continuously at about 200 PLN a week works out near 0.40 PLN per person reached.

From the founder

My dad has run restaurants his whole life.

I grew up in one. I watched agencies do to him exactly what this page just described.

All of us building this are close to the restaurant industry. This isn't an outside bet on a market. It's personal.
