3.21x back on ad spend, and the counter can prove it

White Bear CoffeeWarsaw, Marszałkowska

How a QR code on the counter closed the loop between an ad someone saw at home and the flat white they ordered two days later.

What went missing

White Bear pours specialty coffee on Marszałkowska, one café in a chain of 24, and its ads were working. Nobody could prove it.

A standard campaign reports impressions and clicks. It cannot tell you that the person who saw the post on Tuesday walked in on Thursday, so nobody could say whether the ad budget belonged in the accounts or in the marketing folder.

The retrieval

The pilot café got a page of its own, with a personalised QR code the visitor could take away, and those codes were wired straight into the counter.

Three weeks of Facebook and Instagram campaigns pointed at that page. 259 codes went out, 2,442 people clicked through, and roughly 144,000 saw the ads. Every code that came back over the counter named the campaign that had sent it.

What came back

  • 3.21xBack for every 1 PLN of ad spend, in March
  • 2,442Clicks over three weeks of campaigns

February was the first month of campaigns and returned 2.2x. March returned 3.21x on the same tracking, a rise of 46% in four weeks. The pilot opens the same system to the other 23 cafés in the chain.

From the founder

My dad has run restaurants his whole life.

I grew up in one. I watched agencies do to him exactly what this page just described.

All of us building this are close to the restaurant industry. This isn't an outside bet on a market. It's personal.
